Antalya is a city located on the southwestern coast of Turkey, with a rich history dating back thousands of years. The region has been inhabited since the Paleolithic era, and throughout history, it has been ruled by various civilizations, including the Persians, Romans, Byzantines, and Ottomans.

During the Roman period, the city was known as Attaleia and served as an important port city on the Mediterranean. It was also a significant center for early Christianity, and several early Christian communities were established in the region.

After the fall of the Roman Empire, Antalya was ruled by the Byzantines until the 12th century when it was captured by the Seljuk Turks. The city then became an important center for the Turkish Ottoman Empire.

Today, Antalya is a popular tourist destination known for its beautiful beaches, ancient ruins, and historic landmarks, including the Roman-era Hadrian's Gate and the 13th-century Yivli Minaret Mosque.
